Wells In My Art In My Heart In My Soul | 2008-2009

“I was born in Wells, B.C. and lived there until I was five years old, as the daughter of the only Jewish family in town. I drew and painted even at that tender age. The pine trees, the debris and plants on the forest floor, the gardens of sunflowers and the old houses (including my own) were the things I loved and attempted to sketch . . . when I create art about my Jewish roots, the old town of Wells is often part of the compositions that are therefore, part real and part fantasy. Wells is frequently the symbol of normalcy in the midst of unspeakable horror.” (Linda Frimer)

In Honour of Our Grandmothers | 2005 and earlier

“Frimer incorporates images of family, friends and religious leaders but also uses documentary photographs of victims of the Holocaust in Europe. By altering and contextualizing these images, she reflects on the horrors and losses, the persecution, slaughter, dehumanization and desecration, but she also proposes themes of redemption, regeneration, and the endurance of tradition.” – Robin Laurence, The Weekend Sun Saturday Review

Moses in the Fraser River and Jerusalem in the Moon | 2005 and earlier

“Moses in the Fraser River is a unique and very individual blend of two sets of images that may seem incongruous (the land and townscape of pioneer B.C. and the icons of the Jewish faith) but that work together in a compelling way. The magic realism in which the literal world is presented blends in a surprisingly successful way with the symbolic world of Jewish history.” – Allan Dawe, Writer and Critic

The Gesher Project | 2005 and earlier

“The Gesher Project has had a tremendous impact upon the survivors and second-generation participants. It has greatly expanded their understanding of the Holocaust experience, the effects upon their lives and its effect on their inter-generational relations. The quality of the creative work, both in terms of content and artistic expression, has been outstanding.” – Roberta S. Kremer, Executive Director, Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre
